Signs of Hope

Hello 2010,

To post about nonsensical designer items during times of despair is something I don't want to do. Instead I will be showcasing how people are helping one another. There is design with purpose and worth praise. Let me start highlighting the real designers and the real architects.

I am done slaving for the rich. I want to help the people. I want my designs to save lives.

Lets be progressive! God is the original architect/designer. Amen!

Jesus Walk With Me!!

I would appreciate it if one of my favorite musicians bounces back and make inspirational/positive music like he did with Jesus Walks. Look at some of the lyrics.

Enough with the heartbreak music, lets get back to what is right. To serve the Lord and grow his kingdom. I try to avoid all the bad music on radio, but oftentimes there is so much I just turn it off. I'm I the only one finding evil everywhere I turn to? I do appreciate Ricky Smiley and Steve Harvey but can DJ Laz put some more gospel into his shows?

Hype Williams has been directing videos since I can remember MTV. I enjoy the Amazing piece because its a video about how beautiful nature is untouched. It was filmed in Kauai, Hawaii.

Black Eyed Peas + LMFAO !!

I have been moving away from "Hip-Hop" lately but thank God that BEP also feels the need to experiment with different genres. Been a fan before the stardom and continue to enjoy their songs. The LMFAO is a great feel-good, love positive song. Thats all.

Cornell University Johnson Museum + Milstein Hall!

Stuck in Detroit Airport for 4 hours so I composed my pictures from my great weekend trip to my alma mater. The Johnson Museum has a great balcony view of the changes happening to the campus, including the new architecture building construction, Milstein Hall ! Designed by OMA!

D.O.A. (Death of Architecture) in Dubai Pt.1

Pushing creativity has always been my forte. But when creativity and innovation is pushed by wealth and greed, the outcome can be very scary. In Dubai, there aren't any negotiations, the empowered get what they want, where they want, when they want. So just as much as an architect studies his designs, he must study his client(s) in order to avoid traps.

Architect David Fisher has allowed his genius Rotating Tower to fall into the wrong hands.

The overall concept of self-sustainability is sucked away by the need to accommodate the rich class so they may park their Ferrari next to the jacuzzi. The price tag of $3M-$30M for an energy saving apartment is nowhere in reach for the major workforce of Dubai.

A Ferragamo themed Hotel/Condo in Dubai also doesn't help the fact that the City has an affordable housing issue that forces expats to live in unsuitable living conditions. But this isn't even a blog about human rights, but about artistic control.

Even with housing market suffering in Dubai, the Rotating Tower is being pushed forward with construction. But who will the outcome benefit?

First off, Pure Data is a free software you can download right now!

Ok, now Pure Data (Pd) gives you the ability to write audio and graphic programming in an easy to learn text layout that consist of; messages, atoms, objects and comments.

I took a semester learning Pure Data, Reason and some other notable music programs. My final group project consisted of hooking up Pure Data to Reason and some Wii Controlers for a live visual performance.

Pure Data is fun and easy to use even if you know nothing about music theory.
